Healthy Lunch Box Tips

We want our kids to stay fit and healthy that is why as much as possible in our family we try to give them the right kind of foods and encourage them to involve themselves into sports. Since we want a healthy meal for our two kids we just prepare a pack lunch for them. We also see to it that we use good quality lunch boxes for kids to make sure that the foods they bring to school are kept in good condition.

What to look for in a lunch box? First is the food safety. Foods are stored in lunch boxes for several hours so the lunch box needs to stay cool. To keep it cool choose an insulated lunch box or one with a freezer pack. Food safety also requires following hygienic food preparation methods.

As to what kind of foods to put in a lunch box, here are some suggestions:

Fresh fruit
Crunchy vegetables
A meat or protein food such as slices of lean meat, hardboiled egg, peanut butter or nut paste
Dairy food such as a cheese stick or slice, grated cheese, milk or yoghurt
Starchy food such as bread, a roll, pita or flat bread, fruit bread or crackers

For active children, healthy lunches and snacks are important. It is vital to give them healthy lunch box choices.
