I was surprised to learn that babies can also have acne. All I know is that they just have skin rashes but not acne. Well, here’s what an article says about infant acne. The baby acne or acne neonatorum can be found in babies within 3 to 4 weeks after birth. It appears as red bumps which are commonly in the face or cheek, forehead and chin.
It is the maternal hormones that cause infant acne. It happens during the development stage of the baby, because they are not yet fully developed, the hormones can easily clog the baby’s skin pores and this develops acne, pimples and whiteheads. During nursing or breastfeeding, the hormones from the mother can also pass to the newborn baby.
There’s really no need for infant acne treatment as they subside on their own. Just use mild soap in the affected area once a day and keep it clean and dry.
