Building up muscle can be difficult for some people, especially those with quick metabolisms. If you’re one of those people, then you might find these tips helpful.
1. Monitor and Assess.
Shaping your body to the form you want can be a trying process. Sometimes, all your sacrifices won’t even be that apparent. Thus, closely checking your body and evaluating the results of various habits and exercises is a must.
Unless you actually take the time to track the changes in your body’s shape, you wouldn’t be able to if what you’ve been doing is effective at all. Being aware of the changes in your body and evaluating these results are easiest ways of discovering your progress.
2. Feed your body 5-6 times everyday, with food that’s good for your health.
Never ever wait until you are starving before you eat anything. This promotes muscle loss and fat retention exactly the opposite of what you want.
Eating every 2-3 hours energizes your muscles enough for the day’s activities. Providing your muscles with sufficient energy can even help you gain the muscle mass you want! It might not seem like it, but this practice can do wonders for your body.
3. Learn about your Macro Nutrient Ratio.
Calories you get from junk food such as pizza and ice cream are not the same as calories you get from vegetables and fruits. You have to know what your ideal macronutrient ratio is, for you to get the best out of your diet.
Make sure you know what you put in your mouth. Before you put them in your shopping cart, scrutinize to those ingredients and nutritional information.
A good baseline diet to start from is to get 55% of your daily required calories from Carbohydrates, 35% from Protein, and 20% from Fats. Track and measure your results on this diet, and then tweak the figures accordingly to see how the different ratios affect your muscle gains.
That’s about it! As long as you stick to these guidelines, building up muscle and gaining weight should be easy as 1,2,3.
